A.C.T wins West Oxfordshire

Arts Group Of The Year 2009

We wrote our first pantomime in 1993 in order to celebrate Save The Childrens 75th birthday. It was supposed to be a one off, but everyone was keen to do more and so the panto group was formed, later to be called ACT.

The group has gone from strength to strength, as well as our annual pantomime, we now do a spring production and summer workshops. The workshops, ranging from singing to magic , have been kindly supported by West Oxfordshire District Council.

We are a unique group in many ways. Firstly we give all our profits away; from this years production of 'Peter Pan in Panto Pandemonium' we were able to donate £4500 to SCF. We have no auditions and anyone who would like to be involved is found a slot on or off stage, this makes for a large cast (around 60) and lots of fun!!  We all try and do everything, from painting the set to cleaning the toilets, and are a very friendly, sociable group. We are all committed to raising money for an excellent cause, but we make sure we enjoy what we are doing.

We were deighted and surprised to be given the Arts Group of the Year award, we have never won anything before! It was particularly special as it was the first time this award has been given and coincides with our 15th birthday! It is a great reward for the whole group, present and past members, who have worked very hard at making ACT a success and a particular  credit to a dedicated committee. We would also like to thank all our audiences  who have supported us, without whom we would be rather pointless and Carterton Community College where we rehearse and perform.

Thank-you for your continued support.
